Fishing in the Marquesas Keys

Fishing in the Marquesas Keys

The thing about mangroves is that they lend themselves so well to fishing. Because parts of the mangrove plant reach down into the water in thick forests, it is not surprising that fish would come to recognize mangrove sites as ideal homes not only for themselves, but also for their offspring. That being said, considering the fact that the Marquesas Keys is practically one big mangrove site itself, it would not be such a big leap to assume that fishing would be a major activity at the Marquesas Keys.

The Marquesas Keys are well-known for sports fishing, as the waters – not only blessed with mangroves but also with warm waters – have a thriving population of various fish for the enthusiast. Some prefer to fish on the perimeters of the island, while others attempt to venture more into the Mooney Harbor Lagoon. Others swear by the west side of the island, though – apparently, since very few go that far, there is better chance of catching fish there. No matter which parts you think are best for fishing, though, most people seem to agree that flats fishing and kayak fishing are the way to go when fishing in the Marquesas Keys. That, and you can catch some amazing fish there.

Fishing trips in the Marquesas can last for days – and who would complain about that?
